BENSALEM – With tax time behind them, Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks) said today that he will host his annual shredder event on Saturday, April 28, as a way for residents to properly and safety discard their personal and financial documents.
“The end of April is a great time for spring cleaning, but residents should be aware of the risks of throwing away documents containing personal and sensitive financial information,” DiGirolamo said. “The best way to prevent an unscrupulous person from obtaining your name, birthdate, Social Security number and any other account numbers is to shred all of those documents. That’s why I’m hosting my annual shredder event to help prevent that information from getting out.”
The free shredder event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be held in the parking lot of DiGirolamo’s district office at 2424 Bristol Road, Bensalem
Residents are asked to bring just papers and documents in loose form, as the shredding company cannot process binders or spiral-bound formats. Magazines, books and trash will not be accepted.
Documents that are encouraged to be shredded include those with credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information and bank account information.
This is an event for residents only; no businesses please.
