DiGirolamo Applauds DPW for Halt of Copayment Program
HARRISBURG – Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks), chairman of the House Human Services Committee, issued the following statement today in response to the decision by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) to cease a planned requirement to charge copayments to families of children with mental and physical disabilities:
“Today’s announcement by DPW is great news for the 40,000 families of children with disabilities who faced uncertainty in the way the copayments were to be collected. This is also good news to the various human service providers that will be able to continue to help these families.
“I applaud Public Welfare Secretary Gary Alexander and his team at the department for this decision. I look forward to working with Secretary Alexander and DPW staff in seeking to develop a new system that will help to ensure a fair and reasonable cost-sharing program.”
