Human Services Committee to Hold Hearing on Delay of New Drug and Alcohol Programs Department


WHAT: The House Human Services Committee, chaired by Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks), will hold a public hearing to look into delay of the implementation of the new Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, as outlined in Act 50 of 2010. The department was to have been implemented on July 1, 2011.

WHO: DiGirolamo; Rep. Mark Cohen (D-Philadelphia), Democrat chairman; and members of the House Human Services Committee. Those invited to offer testimony include: representatives of the Governor’s Office of the Budget, Office of Legislative Affairs and the Department of Health. Also planning to testify will be advocates for the new agency.

WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 1, 9:30 a.m.
