Bucks County Delegation Launches Property Tax Web Site
Forum offers residents chance to pick best tax relief plan
In the ongoing discussion about school property taxes in Pennsylvania, Republican members of the Bucks County Delegation in the state House of Representatives have launched a Web site, BucksCountyPropertyTaxSurvey.com, to gauge Bucks County residents’ views on the various property tax plans under consideration in the state Legislature.
The Republican delegation from Bucks County in the state House includes: Reps. Paul Clymer (R-145), Gene DiGirolamo (R-18), Bernie O’Neill (R-29), Scott Petri (R-178), Marguerite Quinn (R-143), Dave Steil (R-31) and Kathy Watson (R-144).
Although there have been numerous property tax reduction and/or elimination proposals in the past, this Web site offers plans currently proposed by the state Legislature to our current system, the members said. The Web site encourages residents to offer their opinions on the plan they favor the most as a way to gauge public support.
In addition to the survey, it provides detailed information about the proposals to reduce or to eliminate school property taxes currently under consideration in the state House.
The members advised that while not everyone will agree with everything proposed in these plans, they are very much interested in residents’ thoughts on these proposals. This Web site provides an important forum, and they are hopeful that residents will take a few minutes to take the survey.
Once a statistically significant number of responses have been received, the delegation intends to promptly hold public forums for additional input.
The survey can also be obtained in a printed form at any of these local representatives' district offices. Computers are also available at local senior centers and libraries.
The Web site also includes contact information about each representative in the event residents would like to directly contact their elected official about the property tax plans.
