House Committee to Hold Hearing on Intellectual Disabilities Waiting List
WHAT: The House Human Services Committee, led by Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks), will hold a public hearing about the waiting list for those with intellectual disabilities. The hearing will focus on the current and future system of service provision, including funding, managed care, protective services and the impact of the waiting list on both individuals and their families.

WHO: DiGirolamo; Rep. Angel Cruz (D-Philadelphia), Democrat chairman; Rep. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia), chairman of the committee’s Subcommittee on Mental Health; and members of the Human Services Committee. Those expected to offer testimony will include family members Mr. and Mrs. Fred Turner and Pam Novak; Sheila Stasko, Vision for Equality Inc., and PA Waiting List Campaign; Lisa Tesler, PA Waiting List Campaign; Kelly Whitcraft and Judy Banks, Disabilities Rights Network of PA; David Gates, PA Health Law Project; Susan Rzucidlo, Speak Unlimited Inc.; service recipient Bradley Piscitelli; Patricia McCool, Bureau of Supports for People with Intellectual Disabilities, Office of Developmental Programs, Department of Public Welfare; David Kauffman, Office of Developmental Programs; Audrey Coccia, Vision for Equality Inc.; and a video by Theresa and Stephen McCarthy.
